Rev. H. Larry Eason
Biographical Sketch
Hollis Larry Eason was born the youngest of ten children to Mr. Edward Eason and Mrs. Ella Eason Webb. He is a lifelong resident of Macon, Georgia. Rev. Eason's educational background includes attendance at M.M. Burdell Elementary School, Peter G. Appling High School, Fort Valley State University, Mercer University and Crossroad Institute. He received a Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Carolina University. He is a Vietnam era veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Rev. Eason has been an active member of Union Baptist Church since 1963. During his membership, he served on the Trustee and Deacon's Ministry as well as Church Treasurer. He has held membership with the Eastside Optimus Club for a number of years and presently is a member of the Baptist Ministers' Union.
After having worked more than 20 years in the insurance industry, God blessed Rev. Eason and Deacon Barry Walker with the faith, courage and resources to establish Eason-Walker Insurance, Inc., which as been in existence for more than 12 years. He has received numerous awards with Independent Life and Met Life Insurance Companies. Presently, he is a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow.
Rev. Eason preached his first sermon on October 7, 2001 and was quickly called to pastor the Greater Little Rock Baptist Church on September 11, 2002. He immediately saw a need for the community in which the church is located. He is the founder of Out and Up, Inc., whose mission is to provide service to the community that will enhance its physical, educational and spiritual development. This organization provides a place for those in the community to access information and resources and includes a food bank, clothing bank, computer lab, outreach agencies, training for children and adults, and arts and enrichment programs that will sustain and improve community life.
Rev. Eason is married to Cynthia Shannon Eason and is the father of four children who all share his spiritual ambitions and passions.
