Family Day 2008
At this time of the year we are blessed to celebrate our Family Day. With reflection, we are compelled to note Jesus' discussion with his disciples in Mathew 12:46-49 when the disciples who were gathered with Jesus attempted to get Jesus to give attention to his mother and brothers who sought to speak with him. Jesus used that moment to teach a profound truth for those of us who are His followers. He replied to his disciples Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
We are all now, because of our common faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, a new family. How wonderful to know that we have so many who we now regard and enjoy as our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. On September 21st, we will join with our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters in a day of worship, study, fun, food, and fellowship as we celebrate God's goodness and providential care by giving us so many with whom we share kinship!!
We invite each of you to come out and share with us and to invite your family to share with us as well. I look forward to meeting some new kinfolk whom I have not been blessed to meet before. Join us. This promises to be our best Family Day yet.
